2021.  The first serious solo album in a long time.   Felt good to get this album done.

Roog!, the title of which I borrow from a short story by my (currently) favorite sci-fi author, Philip K. Dick, features our two favorite canines.  Those little guys did a remarkable job staying in time.

Miller Time and Valiant feature lesser beings--humans (myself, for one)--and the rest are sheer instrumental... something.

2020Scapegoat is Casey's and my third album together.  Still honoring Dan, we used his poetry for most of the lyrics (all but The Ride).

If nothing else this one convinced me to invest in better autotune technology.   Or take vocal lessons.

As with Callback, Casey wrote all the material and I flowered it up with drums, keys, bass, etc.

(You get an extra track, with Neil Peart drums included, if you buy this one.)

2016

Yay new stuff!

My brother Casey and I (AKA Huh) have created our second album, after only 18 years. Dig it!

Callback has a bit of everything—the songs were all written by Casey, and I just put a little icing on the cake, so to speak. This wide array of styles reflects Casey's wealth of talent and broad interest in all things music.

Here it is.

1995. An oddity indeed—I sang in one piece (and spoke in a couple others). Not much of a singer, but somehow managed to do okay through a Casio Rapman, which lowered the pitch of my voice—and not by an amount remotely convenient (like an octave or a fifth).

My drums in a garage detached from the row house we rented in Cavasso Nuovo, and our neighbors referred to me as il terremoto ('the earthquake'). In jest, of course. I think...

1989. Bad Vibes was my first major production, and for the longest time my baby.  A friend lent me his 4-tracker, effects pedals, guitar, bass, a couple mics... I took as much leave as I could afford, and three weeks later—voila...  a 38 minute-long instrumental "album."

Those are my then-new Tamas and my Yahama VSS-30 voice sampling keyboard. The bass lines make me cringe; recorded before Les Claypool inspired me to get brave and drop the pick once in a while.

1994. In the summer of '93 my brother Daniel flew out to Albuquerque for a visit. Stayed for a couple weeks, and he and I spent a good deal of that time putting this together.

Dan wove a dark tale about a young man, spurned, and I did my best to mold a soundscape around it. The lyrics are considerably profound for a 16-year old.

It's a pretty tough listen these days; Daniel passed in 2014—37 years old—and left a gaping hole in many of our hearts.

September 1998. My brother Casey (guitar), and I (bass) improvised several songs into the Tascam.  After burning through two 90 minute tapes (22.5 minutes ea on the 488) we switched instruments and nearly filled a third.

We covered Pink Floyd's "One of These Days" (I'm gonna quit smokin'), played a tune Casey had previously written (Crystal Ball), and improvised the rest.

1998 till...?.  Had my Portastudio not broken down in 1998 I'd probably have finished this before 2000.

Instead, I've been slow-leaking it for over two decades (and could go another several years ... or never finish it at all).

At least in the meantime I've netter some guest appearances by my stepdad, and my brother Casey.  Artist and dear friend George Fox has created cover art for the album.

Unfinished, but what's there is here.
